Hotel Manang takes its name from the legendary lost kingdom of Manang. It lies on the famous trekking route north of Pokhara known as Annapurna circuit. The easiest access into Manang is through the village of Chame which is situated at an altitude of over 10,000 ft. You can reach Chame by trekking from Pokhara and Dharapani along the Marshyangdi river. Manang is still one of the remotest and most inaccessible places in Nepal.

Its mystic Buddhist culture and unique way of life have thus survived to this day almost unchanged through the centuries. Manang's artistic heritage is exemplified in ancient monuments like the splendid Yachika Monastery.
Its pristine landscape is enhanced by natural wonders like the turquoise waters of Manang lake and the Marshyangdi river that thunders through the district. |

The people of Manang are mostly Gurung and Ghale. Even though
they are culturally homogeneous, their attitude differs from place to place
owing to varying climate conditions. Manang is mainly Buddhist, but many
religious ceremonies are performed accordingly to Lamaist customs.

Manang is a stunningly beautiful land,
but the soil is harsh, and the people work hard to raise
crops like potatoes, maize and wheat. Yak herding is
also a major livelihood. In the old days, Manang used
to be an important trading center, and mule caravans
laden with salt and chilly regularly traversed the Himalayan
passes north to Tibet. The glorious traditions live
on, and mention of Manang instantly brings to mind exotic
culture, remarkable history and fascinating vistas.
Hotel Manang brings to Kathmandu the ancient hospitality
of this legendary lost kingdom in the Himalaya. With
55 well-appointed deluxe and super deluxe rooms provided
with modern amenities like air conditioning, mini bar,
attached bath, direct dialing IDD/STD facilities, and
seven-channel TV including in-house movies.
Hotel Manang lies in most prominent place of Thamel "a shopper's paradise" - 15 minutes drive from the Tribhuvan Int'l airport. |
